KCR is at the best of his political career at this point. His image as pioneer of Telangana movement is at peak, his political status also at the peak. If elections are to be held now in Telangana, he is in a position win majority of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal, Karim Nagar, Medak and Nalgonda. He may win few more from rest of Telangana.
KCR and his TRS have lot of problems. KCR is very tall leader in TRS. But his disrespect towards leaders below him makes him difficult to attract good leaders. This is the key reason why he couldn’t pull good number of leaders from TDP/Cong even in Karim Nagar. Leaders are worried of how he is going to treat them after joining. He might scold them as opportunists, deny tickets or something else.
TRS doesn’t have electoral machinery/ organizational skills to win elections. Even in the peak of Telangana movement they could not win even few ZPTC/ MPTC seats. They don’t have electoral machinery who will take the voters to booths, who can translate the Telangana sentiment as a vote to his name (for ZPTC/MPTC/MLA/MP). That is the main reason for his hit rate being very low compared to his partners in any elections in many districts of Telangana. However last election where MLAs resigned and stood again for the cause of Telangana and achieved a great victory.
KCR is too clever/ opportunist to kill whoever is closer to him. He knows TDP/Cong/Jagan hate each other. He attacks for period one of them and gets support from others. Then he moves towards them and kills them using the others. Already TDP/Cong sucked into his tactics. He cheated CBN/Sonia as well. (Not discussing the other way…that is also true. we can talk about it separately).
Central Govt is planning to use Sri Krishna Committee report to postpone Telangana creation for 3 yrs with some Constitutional Guarantees for Telangana (kind of constitutional reservation for Telangana for 3 years) in United Andhra. It will be some jobs/other benefits for Telanganites for sure, but one is not sure how far it is going to affect the Telangana sentiment. It will be an offer that is difficult to reject if one wants only development. If one wants want only Telangana in the name of self-rule then they might have to lose something like Hyderabad since it hurts the sentiments of the people in other areas of the state. So it is going to “catch twenty two” situation where one choose Development and stay united ( Seemandhra people will have to accept that some more jobs to go Telangana) or choose self-rule ( for which Hyderabad should be given to be kept for all as trade off. ) Let’s see anyway.
KCR is extremely worried that he would not be able to get the Telangana movement this high again; if it subsides now, he will be politically insignificant by 3 years until this experiment concludes. So he wants to cash in immediately. He bluffed Center that he will be doing the protest peacefully. He wants elections now. He knows that Jagan has strength to de throw the Govt. So he is hoping for elections with the help of elections.
He knows Jagan Mohan Reddy is a great organizer, towering personality in the state with great backing from people across the state. He knows if he goes with Jagan right now, he can remain high for the next 3-5 years and then stir up T-movement again. Later he can pass remarks on Jagan and choose to walk-away – Who Knows? Anything is possible from the recent history.
He is also trying to give an impression that he is the champion of Telangana by saying “Jagan will sweep Andhra and he will sweep Telangana”. He knows that Jagan effect will be very similar to that of Andhra in Greater Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Khammam, Mehaboob Nagar and Nalgonda districts.
Jagan is smart enough to understand and respond in right spirit.
